Dr. Jennifer H. Stephens serves as the deputy chief of staff in the Office of the President at Georgia Gwinnett College. She provides strategy formulation and operational support to the chief of staff, president and executive leadership team.
During the 2015–2016 academic year, she participated in the American Council on Education Fellowship Program, a leadership development program that focuses on identifying and preparing the next generation of senior leadership for the nation’s colleges and universities.
Prior to the Fellowship, Stephens was the associate vice president of Public Relations at Georgia Gwinnett College, the first four-year, public college created in Georgia in more than 100 years. The College opened in August 2006 with an inaugural class of 118 juniors and an access mission focused on student success. Today, only ten years later, it serves more than 12,000 students. In that role, she provided leadership in the strategy, planning and execution for communications and integrated marketing programs to elevate the college’s reputation and advance its brand. She has been intimately involved in almost every facet of the creation of the new institution and its strategic planning.
Prior to her role at GGC, Stephens served as the chief PR officer at Georgia Perimeter College, the largest two-year college in the state.
Stephens has a Ph.D. in higher education from the University of Georgia. She holds an M.Div. in biblical studies from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and a B.A. in psychology and a B.A. in graphic design from Auburn University. She and her husband, Todd, live in Suwanee, Georgia, with their two daughters, Jessica and Emily.
